Township Board Vacancy

It is with regret that the Fruitland Township Board accepted the resignation of our Township Treasurer.  We will be accepting applications and resumes until March 16, 2020 by 2:00 p.m.

By statue, the Treasurer is required to receive and take charge of all funds belonging to the township or which are required by law to be paid into the Township treasury, and to pay over and account for the funds according to law or Township Board decision.  The treasurer is the Township’s agent for collecting taxes.

Township Ordinance states the Treasurer will have primary responsibility for journal entries related to bank transactions including State shared revenue direct deposits, interest and service charges and transfer of funds for certificates of deposit.  The Treasurer also receipts and issues checks, collects taxes, invests surplus funds, collects delinquent personal property and jeopardy assessments, deposits Township revenue in approved depositories and collects summer school taxes.  These are not all of the duties of the Township Treasurer but are necessary skills to effectively serve as treasurer.

The successful candidate will have to run for election of the Treasurer’s position this year.  The Township Clerk can provide you information on running for office.
